Theme Music Competition Results

June 26, 2010

Hello, Hello!

I did a competition in January, and somehow I never got round to announcing a winner. It’s been a busy year obviously!

So today I am here to announce the winner.

The prize (which I assume you’ve forgotten) is a card of any drawing you like from the array of them in the gallery on my website. But if you don’t have time for that sort of thing– I’d be happy to pick one for you.

So who’s the one that’s going to be choosing a card?

Well Sharon (of BlissKnits) had an interesting choice of combining the Gardeners World theme-tune with Dr.Who’s. But upon review of these tunes, my mind won’t let them co-exist so she did not win.

Danielle (of NelliD )suggested a trumpet playing Royal Brittania out of tune and although this is an amusing idea, it just wasn’t enough to win.

Haptree almost won it with her suggestion of Que Sera Sera, progressively getting louder until it sounds like the Sex Pistols singing it. I love that song so much and do like punk music quite a bit.

Leanne (of SeeTheWoods) suggested Benny Hill but noted that she didn’t think she’d want to hear that in her head for the rest of her life. That’s no good! Does Bart Simpson have that kind of luxury every week when he skateboards down the road?! No he doesn’t! So straight away, you’re out of the running.

So, the only person left is Nicola (of GrannyRuth’s Gift Emporium) and yes, she is the winner! Her theme music was the theme from Bod. Now Jenny knows what Bod is but me, I’ve never really seen it. So I went and looked it up to have a listen and ohmygod, it’s just genius. Click here if you haven’t heard it before. It is so joyous and intricate – but at the same time simple and beautiful. It’s a great positive choice and totally deserves the prize.

So congratulations Nicola! Get in touch and let me know which drawing you’d like as your prize.

See you all again soon for more interesting blog posts,

Happy Vibes,

Joe

Theme Music Competition

January 10, 2010
Take a dip

Will you?

Hello there everyone,

I had an idea the other day for a awesome competition to run on this blog.

It all started with me thinking of a great question to ask you all. It’s a question I’ve asked of myself at various times during my life so far. It’s a question that I doubt is very original really. But that doesn’t change the fact, my friends, that it is a great question. And a simple one.

Wouldn’t it be cool if we all had our own theme tune?

I have often gone through in my head all the great ideas of songs that would be brilliant theme tunes. I’ve pondered for hours just what I would ultimately choose if it I was ever actually asked.

But the more pressing question is – What, dear reader, would your’s be?

Which leads me to the competition! To enter is simple – I want to hear your ideas (with some form of justification please, however vague) for what your theme tunes would be. I will then use my wonderful mindbag to decide which is the most creative, amusing or brilliant. Then the person I choose will win a lovely prize. Obviously part of the prize will be being featured on my blog when I announce the winner (possibly in some kind of song – which you won’t want to miss I can tell you), and the other part of the prize will be a card of any drawing you like from the array of them in the gallery on my website or if you don’t have time for that sort of thing – I’ll pick one for you.

I will announce the winner whenever I see fit (that’ll annoy Haptree with her Giveaway HQ. No specifics for you!) which will give me time to work on the announcement song.

I know, I know – you’re brains are already running away with the sheer possibilities, and I bet you’re coming up with some corkers even now. So get commenting and make sure they’re good otherwise there will be trouble!

Love to you all (and happy new year!)

Joe

Plans for a new banner

October 9, 2009

Today I am asking for your assitance dear readers!

I’m going to show you a few banner ideas I’ve created for my Folksy shop which include some of my circuitry sculptures and then I’m going to get you to vote. I’ve included my current banner as the first choice (just in case you think I should keep it the way it is) but otherwise they are all new.

Take a look below at the banners:

Please click the picture to see it full size. (it looks a bit crap here.)

Please click the picture to see it full size. (it looks a bit crap here.)

And now, if you will, take a look at the poll below and vote for the banner that you like best. I know it’s hard, they’re all quite unbelievably good, but just do you best to whittle it down to one and vote.

Thank you very much if you voted! If you didn’t then no thank you’s for you, you are so lazy! Oh and I’d love to hear any comments or suggestions if anything comes to mind so please feel free. =) Oh and also you can vote more than once if you found it hard to choose so please do so.

Anyway, lovely seeing you. Can’t wait to see the results over the next few days.

Speak soon,

Joe

And the winner is!

September 25, 2009

Hello there everyone!

So today is the day! That’s right, the competition that I should really have announced the results of days ago is going to be announced today. Not just today but right this very moment.

But it's ok, today is the day!

But it's ok, today is the day!

There was a good few entries I must say, which was wonderful to see. Thanks so much for everyone who entered! I loved all the ideas but in the end it came down to just two of you.

The winner of the ‘My First Competition Ever’ Competition is…

<drumroll>

Shaz from The Sock Garden! <trumpets play something fanciful>

I’m very pleased it’s Shaz as I love the work she does and it’s cool to have a reason to randomly promote her awesome creations. Her folksy shop is here if you like her work and want to buy something. =)

Her idea was ‘Sir Kit LaMarr’ and I think it’s very cool indeed and totally suited to him. Also it’s very clever and makes perfect sense. So it’s exactly what I wanted. Sir Kit is rather pleased with it too:

Look at his little smile. So happy with his new name!

So anyway, if you can get in touch Shaz we can discuss which magnet you want. I’m in the course of re-stocking my Folksy shop so we’ll have to figure out a way of giving you a bit more choice. Soon enough though your prize will be on it’s way to you!

More competitions will follow I’m sure, keep an ear to the ground and your eyes on this blog. Perhaps put it on your RSS thingy?

Love to you all,

Joe

Postcard Swapping!

May 14, 2009

So a lovely lady on Folksy called MagicAlice arranged for anyone interested to be part of a postcard swap. It seemed like a very cool idea, especially since I had just recently started making postcards for selling in my shop and at craft fairs. I thought it would be pretty interesting to see what I might get from whoever gets my address.

It turns out it wasn’t just interesting but totally amazing as the card I got was so great! It was colourful, had loads of effort put into it and was just lovely. Check it out:

This is just so cool.

This is just so cool.

It was made by the lovely KittyNoir who’s shop is here. I think she deserves your money, so please buy things from her. And then buy something from me as well! =D

Anyway, just thought I would share that.

Good day to you all.

Joe
